Offertory Prayer - Leading Offertory Prayer

Image
Congratulations and thank you for your willingness to serve.  Here are some reminders before you lead the offertory prayer.   Praying up the stage sets you apart from many other men and women in the church.  The truth is, someone else could lead but you have been given the privelege.  Count this as a special call and a blessing.    Personalize your offertory prayer by giving yourself.   Leaders who pray for offertory are advocates of generous giving to the Lord, whether that be tithing or special giving.  This too will set you apart from most of the church attenders.   Be an example.   ✦ Reminders for Offertory Prayer Leaders Be Grateful – Acknowledge that everything we have comes from God. Be Brief but Heartfelt – Keep it focused, sincere, and under 2 minutes. Connect Giving to Worship – Remind that giving is part of our spiritual act of worship. Avoid Guilt-Tripping – Encourage joy and willingness in...

Praying in Public - How do I do it and where do i start

Image
The Bible in Public Praying           Where Do I Start Praying in public can feel a bit intimidating at first, but it’s a beautiful way to connect with your faith and share it with others. Here’s a way to approach it and where you can start learning: 1. Start with Personal Prayer If praying in public feels overwhelming, build up to it. Start by praying in a private space—at home or in nature—until you feel more confident. 2.  Know Your Intention Before you pray, reflect on why you're doing it. Is it to share your faith? To seek guidance? To show gratitude? Keeping your intention in mind will help you stay focused and calm. 3. Keep It Simple & Write If you’re just starting out, begin with simple prayers. A short prayer can be powerful, and you don’t need to use fancy words or worry about being perfect. It could be something like: "Thank you for this day, and please guide us today in our gathering."  Writing it makes sense and it should be ok too to...

Praying In Public - Bible Foundation and Benefits

The Bible in Public Praying       Where Do I Start Congratulations!  Now that you are praying on your own, you are in the path of blessing others through your prayer life.   Praying in public is an important part of spiritual growth and community life. Public prayer isn’t just about the act of speaking words in front of others—it’s about learning how to express faith, connect with God, and engage with others in the context of worship and support. The Bible has a lot to say about the power and purpose of prayer, both in private and public settings. 1. Praying in Public: A Biblical Perspective Modeling for Others : Jesus Himself prayed publicly (Luke 11:1), teaching His disciples how to pray, and through His example, He demonstrated the power of communal prayer. He even prayed publicly before performing miracles, like when He raised Lazarus (John 11:41-42). Public prayer can show others the importance of a relationship with God and encourage them to do the sa...

What is Yokefellow Ministry

Image
Congratulations!  The Yokefellow Ministry of First Baptist Church of Wahiawa focuses on harnessing the desire of men in the church to further their lives to ministry.   At best, this program ends in preparing people for deaconship but its intended result is more than that.  We firmly believe that Yokefellow will enhance men in their growth in the Lord and experience in ministry.  In Matthew 11, Jesus invited the weak and the heavy-laden to come to him to learn and be yoked together with the Savior.  Jesus said, "take my yoke upon you and learn from me" (Matt. 11:29).  In this spirit, deacons will invite men to be joined to them for a season of serving together to learn and shar in ministry.   Men who are serious in their walk in the Lord have great potential to be in broader service, to be ministry leaders, bible study leaders, deacon and a pastor.  These men will be yoke fellowed with a deacon of the church who will guide, hold accounta...
